PocketASP 2.1 Overview

ASP applications on your Pocket PC

PocketASP takes standard HTML and ASP applications and runs them on your Pocket PC. These applications are viewed through Pocket IE with no need for special configuration or plug-ins.

Single development platform

ASP applications can now be developed that will run identically on web servers, standalone PCs, laptops and mobile devices. PocketASP runs on all Pocket PC 2000 and Pocket PC 2002 devices so there is no need to compile different versions of your application for all the different device types.

Secure Applications

PocketASP achieves all this without the need for a web server on your device. No ports are opened to allow connection from external sources, leaving the data on your device secure from outside attack.

Both VBScript and JScript

With PocketASP, you may choose to write in either VBScript or JScript, leveraging existing web programming skills.

Extensive object support

Emulation of ASP's built in Request, Response, Server and Session objects allows standard ASP pages to be transferred to PocketASP with the minimum of changes. Additional objects may be integrated in to your application through the use of Server.CreateObject. Some of the many functions available to include are,

• ADO for PocketPC database support

• XML building and parsing

• Access to corporate databases across wireless networks

Developer support

We are keen to support all users who choose PocketASP as their development platform. A library of sample code is included with the product and a busy online support forum allows users to talk directly to the developers of PocketASP and other users.
